  my esteemed bro-in-law, who is visiting from out of state, will be the speaker.

  actually, i guess technically, my sister invited me, thru my mom of course since she doesn't really associate with me *gag*.

  What is odd is how they keep discouraging the use of "worldly wisdom", and then turn around and use it themselves.

  I seem to recall the WTS saying that they have a crack team of researchers who dig out the "cream". This is so that the JWs don't have to risk being "infected" by worldly wisdom and their own conclusions.

  The WTS is basically saying: "We will think for you so you won't get in trouble."

  When reading that, you have to remember how a JW will perceive it. The article talks about "human philosophies and traditions". JWs think that the WTS is "God's Visible Organization on earth" - therefore, what the WTS says is not "human philosophies and traditions".

  It could be called "JWThink" (re. 1984)

  leaks are occuring - everyone's loyalty is becoming suspect.. are there no real men left at bethel?

  I always find it fascinating how they eventually find ways around "absolute" biblical laws.

  They will do the same in this situation... or perhaps there will be another split among the congregations. One group will continue to follow all "absolute" biblical laws, while another becomes more liberal.

  i am writing to follow up with information concerning j. r. browns response to comments i made to the media regarding watchtowers policy hurting children and protecting pedophiles.

  in the course of the last year the jehovahs witness public information department headed by j. r. brown and local elders have repeatedly offered misinformation to the public.

  the way i understand it, evolution posits that we are just a higher species of animal.

  if that is true, then it follows that everything that humans have invented, such as societal rules, politeness, high technology, spirituality, are just another evolutionary adaptation to survive better.. christianity, on the other hand claims a vast gulf, an order of magnitude division between man and beast.

  we are divine, although flawed.

  As far as I can tell, the only difference between Humans and all other known animals is we are very good at communicating abstract ideas and we're a bit smarter.

  Everything else higher animals (primates, etc.) can do too.

  Hypocrisy Within My Own Family

  yesterday my brother (ever-loyal witness baptized same day as me 10 years ago; who is married to a holier-than-thou regular pioneer and subsequently with her encouragement has since avoided me as much as possible since i da myself) and his wife (see description above) came over to visit.. well.. shooting the proverbial shit, we got to the topic of movies.

  asking politely if he or his wife had seen lord of the rings.. she interjected that it was inappropriate because it suggested wizardry and spiritism, and would never see such filth.

  trying very hard to remain polite, my mom noticed the pause and said if they wanted to borrow any movies we have on tape to watch at home.. sneaky as i am, while they flapped their gums with my parents i glanced in the bag to see what they borrowed.. they took:.

  It's luck of the draw with message boards... I’ve noticed that some threads that I start take off and run, while others just stagnate and do nothing.

  There are also some people who are just skilled at started threads that catch on.

  Lottery Tickets

  my sister is a jw and she buys lottery tickets and says if she wins i will get half and that makes it ok.we also went to the race track and i placed bets for her with her money,i guess if it`s ok in there eyes it`s not considered gambling!!!.
